The term ‘Roadside Magic’, relates to the study of folk ritual, plant knowledge and magic, in the repair, maintenance and operation of vehicles. It also encompasses practices associated with journey-making of all kinds, whether by foot, hoof or handcart. It is the only known archive of its kind and holds an extensive collection of artefacts, costumes and photographs. AFF is entirely DIY run, meaning we count on everyone coming to help make it run smoothly! We are looking for people who want to take on additional focused roles, donating a chunk of time before, during and/or after the festival. We will gratefully offer a free ticket in return. Welsh guitarist, composer and arranger @garethreesguitar hails from a small village in the Brecon Beacons. Growing up in one of the most beautiful parts of the world has resulted in a strong connection to the land, a connection that he attempts to show through his arrangements of Welsh traditional melodies for solo fingerstyle guitar. Drawing influence from the likes of Tony McManus, Pierre Bensusan and Ben Walker, his mesmerising arrangements aim to paint a hazy picture of Welsh landscapes and legends. Mae'r gitarydd, cyfansoddwr a threfnydd o Gymru, Gareth Rees, yn dod o bentref bach yn y Bannau Brycheiniog. Mae tyfu i fyny yn un o rannau harddaf y byd wedi arwain at gysylltiad cryf â'r tir, cysylltiad y mae'n ceisio'i ddangos trwy ei drefniannau o alawon traddodiadol Cymru ar gyfer gitâr. A reminder that thanks to brexit ☠️ people who are not citizens of Britain or Ireland will need a visa to come to AFF this year. People outside of Europe will know this well, but visa requirements for EU members came into effect in May this year as well.
